In 2011 Bruce Hall turned 50!
It is 50 years since Bruce Hall opened its doors as the first undergraduate residence at the Australian National University. We started the celebrations of this special year with a wonderful 50th Anniversary Commencement Dinner. As the Hall was named after the University’s first Chancellor, Stanley Melbourne Bruce, we were most honoured that the 50th Anniversary Commencement address was delivered by the ANU’s current Chancellor, Professor the Hon Gareth Evans AO QC.
The focal point of 50th Anniversary activities was the major alumni events on the weekend of 17-18 September 2011. A Gala Dinner was held on Saturday 17 September and a number of other events were held on the same weekend.
