Events
The Bruce Hall social calendar includes major events such as:
Commencement is a formal dinner marking the beginning of the
academic year and most Hall residents attend. Senior members of the University,
Fellows and Hall staff join Bruce residents during the evening.
Foundation Dinner is a formal dinner held in the second term
and celebrates the foundation of Bruce Hall. Guests include senior members of
the University, former Wardens and staff of the Hall and Alumni.
Christmas Dinner is held mid-winter. It is an opportunity to
unwind a bit before first semester exams with traditional Christmas fare and
celebrations. Everyone is encouraged to come in theme dress. The fancy dress
Ball is scheduled in term 3. Both these events are organised by
the Common Room Committee.
Valete marks the end of the academic year and is a way of
farewelling residents who are leaving the community as well as recognising
residents’ contributions to the Hall community during the time in which they
have lived in Hall.
