Bruce Hall and the ANU can offer a number of forms of financial assistance, including bursaries, scholarships and paid employment which can assist you out of a tight spot during your time in residence. These include:

ANU Scholarships

Many of our students receive ANU scholarships, including National Scholarships, PhB scholarships and scholarships from particular faculties. For more information, please go to http://www.anu.edu.au/sas/scholarships/.

Bruce Hall Bursaries

In October each year, Bruce Hall offers a number of bursaries to residents on the basis of financial need, academic merit and demonstrated or potential ability to contribute to the life of the Hall in the following academic year. Bursary holders are expected to be an active participant in one of the five Learning Communities at Bruce Hall during the period they hold the bursary. Emergency bursaries are sometimes available to residents in exceptional circumstances.

Residential Positions

Every year Bruce Hall selects residents for positions on the Senior Resident, IT and Buttery Teams. The residents who volunteer their service to the Hall community in this way receive an honorarium or scholarship towards the cost of their accommodation. The elected executive members of the Common Room Committee also receive an honorarium in recognition of their service.

Other Financial Assistance

A small number of rooms are available at reduced rates to students who can demonstrate significant finacial need. Resident who wish to apply for one of these rooms should contact the Dean of Residents.

Bruce Hall residents form part of each year's Unisafe patrol team; members of the team are ANU staff members and are employed to escort students around campus after dark until 11.30 pm at night.

Residents on Centrelink may be eligible for Rental Assistance. Please check the Centrelink website http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/individuals.
